Better heroes than our Christmas Chocolate Selection Box!
In the wake of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2015, in particular the unsung hero award, we want to remind you about our favourite unsung heroes and the ones who bring more joy and comfort to lonely and needy people this year, than we could ever imagine.
Not forgetting those who are alone or homeless during the Christmas holiday, who are fortunate to have a dog or cat to keep them company, there have also been some brilliant examples of how cats and dogs are truly our heroes this year.
Here are just a few which caught our eye:
Tara the brave Tabby from California, USA, pushed a vicious dog out of the way as it clamped its teeth into Tara’s four year old owner, Jeremy. She eventually forced the dog to release Jeremy who was relatively unharmed. She was awarded a hero award, which was very well deserved. Watch her feline prowess right here.
PATDog is something that is very close to our hearts and something we love supporting. We wish we could talk about all the PAT (Pets As Therapy) dogs but thankfully there are too many to mention. The winner of this year’s PAT Dog of the year announced at Crufts was the playful and very kind Marnee, a Golden retriever from East Sussex. She has worked with patients undergoing stroke rehabilitation, people with mental and physical disabilities, autistic children and people with severe dementia. She truly is a hero!
We were very excited to have been chosen by movie giant Twentieth Century Fox, to help promote 'Snoopy & Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie'. So we cannot miss Snoopy’s alter ego and hero ‘The World War I Flying Ace’ who makes a magnificent performance in the movie – have you seen it yet? It’s brilliant! You can see it in cinemas now!
We love fluffy Chow Chow Simba! He has proved himself a true hero by rescuing his sleeping family from a raging fire, which engulfed their caravan and had almost spread to the house. You can see Simba here. Disclaimer: he is ridiculously cute and might make you go all gooey – you have been warned!
We’d really like to give a special mention to Belgian Shepherd, Diesel, a police dog killed during a French anti-terror raid in the wake of the recent Paris attacks. Diesel was so loved that one police handler called Diesel’s death ‘like losing one of our colleagues’ and it prompted a huge social media wave with people tweeting their condolences with #JeSuisDiesel.
