All "PAWS" for National Pet Month

National Pet Month

April is National Pet Month, which means a whole month dedicated to our furry friends.

This nationwide event aims to promote responsible pet ownership, while raising a glass to all those who work with animals. It also highlights the amazing work of assistance dogs and other working animals, and educates people on the benefits of owning a pet – all causes we are happy to get behind (check out our blog on Why HiLife Supports PAT Dog and its Heroic Volunteers).

The campaign, now in its 27th year, gets bigger every year as more and more pet lovers get involved. Throughout April events are being held across the UK and thousands of people are fundraising for their favourite animal charities. You can find out more about what’s on here.

If you would like to hold your own fundraiser, perhaps for the animal shelter in your area, you can download a toolkit from the website and create an online listing. So far there are dog walks, a colouring competition, pet photo sessions and even a dog festival – and there’s a prize for the best event.

National Pet Month is a registered charity and brings together animal welfare charities, professional bodies, pet businesses, schools, youth groups and pet lovers. Its trustees are the National Office of Animal Health (NOAH) and the Pet Food Manufacturers’ Association (PFMA).

Will you be supporting this great cause? If so, please share any photos, we’d love to see them! Cat lovers can head to our HiLifeCat Facebook or Twitter, and if you’re a dog lover head here for our HiLifeDog Facebook or Twitter.
