Who owns HiLife Petfoods?
The HiLife brand of dog and cat foods is owned by family-run Town & Country Petfoods, based in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. HiLife is one of the UK’s most popular petfood ranges and was established in 1974. Its high quality products are available in most leading supermarkets and pet specialist stores – as well as online. Always feed your cat or dog HiLife, to be certain he or she is getting the best tasting, highest quality and most nutritious food, packed with more of the named main ingredients.
Where can I buy HiLife products?
HiLife is available from all major supermarkets and pet specialist stores and from an increasing number of other outlets. If you are not able to find the product that you want from a local stockist, we can also put you in touch with other retailers that offer a "Buy Online" service. For details of where to find specific products, visit our “For Cats” or “For Dogs” pages.
Which HiLife products can I feed to my puppy?
HiLife now has three ranges of wet food suitable for puppies - Special Care Cans, Puppy Pouches and NEW Nature's Essentials Puppy. These are appropriate up to the age of about 6-9 months (depending on breed and size of dog). Other products in the range such as HiLife Complete Moist Menus have not been formulated to the specific needs of a puppy and therefore should only be introduced into a young dog's diet from the age of about 9 months (smaller breeds) or 12 months (larger breeds). For further details visit our “For Dogs” or “Online Store” pages.
Which HiLife products can I feed to my kitten?
HiLife has one product specifically for kittens - the HiLife Kitten/Junior pouch multipack. This is suitable for kittens from weaning to 18 months of age. Both are available from pet shops and online retailers. For further details visit our “Catfoods” or “Buy Online” pages.
Will you sponsor my charity or event?
Our nominated national charity is Pets as Therapy (PAT). For more details of their work, visit our links page. The number of requests we receive for sponsorship and product donations from other worthy organisations has increased to such an extent that we must unfortunately concentrate our support on charities and events in our local community.
Does HiLife offer any Special or Prescription Diets?
All nutritionally complete recipes from HiLife are formulated to meet the nutritional requirements of normal, healthy adult cats or dogs. There are also a limited number of products specifically formulated for puppies and kittens. By law we are prohibited from recommending or commenting on our products’ suitability for individual pets with special medical needs or animals under veterinary care. We are however able to provide nutritional information on each of our products for further discussion with your vet. Much of this information is already available on our “For Cats” and “For Dogs” pages.
If there’s as little as 4% of the named ingredients in other brands of catfoods, what else is in it?
Please feel free to ask the competition! Generally “4%” relates to the variety name on the front of the pack – not the total meat content. E.g. A “with chicken” variety will contain at least 4% chicken but the rest may be a mixture of meat, meat by-products, cereals, jelly / gravy. BY LAW, all meat ingredients used in pet food MUST be from animals that have been passed FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. The PFMA (Petfood Manufacturers Association) has a very good explanation of what ingredients are used in pet foods. Contact www.pfma.org.uk for more details.
I have been into a pet shop and the price listed on your site is different to the price I paid - why is this?
The UK law stipulates that we cannot enforce our recommended retail prices onto our customers. As such, each retailer is free to price their goods as they see fit. For clarity, the prices that you see on our site are those recommended to our customers.
